Workshops

‘Myda creates a comfortable and safe space to experience sound and be attuned to what feelings and thoughts might arise from that. She is a knowledgeable and empathetic instructor. I joined her workshop without expectation; however, I left that experience wanting to further explore sound and its use. Living in NYC, we are exposed to different sounds throughout the day and do not think much about it. I am grateful to Myda for bringing me awareness of things like this and its relationship with our mind-body. I’ll definitely be attending additional sound baths and courses she holds in the future, and look forward to diving deeper into sound!’

Sound as a Modality:

Incorporate Sound Healing into Your Personal and Professional Practices

singing bowl with other sound instruments and notebooks

Saturday, April 21st and Saturday, April 27, 2024

In this training, we will learn, discuss and practice how you can incorporate sound work into your personal and professional practices of healing, transformation and growth.

The workshop will be separated into 2 days.

Day 1 can be a stand-alone class that can be attended via Zoom or In-Person however participation in Day 2, as it is a hands-on class, is only offered in-person and requires that you attend Day 1 (online, in-Person or via recording).

DAY 1: Saturday, April 21, 12-3pm

In-Person and Online via Zoom (Recordings will be made available)

On Day 1, we embody the seat of the receiver, as listener or client.

We will learn:

  • why we can use sound as a modality

  • how we hear vs. how we listen

  • the ways we can experience various sounds in our minds, emotions and bodies through deep listening

  • discuss the process known as entrainment

  • listen more critically from the perspective of the practitioner.

  • brainstorm listening to different sounds and the qualities that are brought out and how that might be incorporated into a sound bath.

  • learn how to build a soundscape for yourself or others.

DAY 2: Saturday, April 27, 12-6pm

In-Person Only*

On Day 2, we embody the seat of the giver, as practitioner.

We will learn:

  • the basic techniques of playing, through hands-on practice, the various sound tools available at my studio such as alchemy crystal singing bowls, wind gong, and himalayan singing bowls.

  • discuss other options for constructing a sound bath such as vocals, chimes, tuning forks, etc.

  • design and offer mini-sound baths to one another.

*Because of the experiential and technical nature of this day, it is required that we meet in-person at my studio in Far Rockaway.  (There are only 5 spaces available but if there's an interest, another day will be added to the calendar.)

Both days will end in a restful sound bath to receive, digest and process everything learned.

Registration is through MINKA Brooklyn but feel free to email me with any and all questions about the training.

Sliding Scale Options Available:

Part 1: $65-95

Parts 1 & 2: $250-375

Just like one violin in an orchestra that is out of tune can pull the whole orchestra out of harmony, one part of the body that is vibrating out of its normal, healthy, resonant frequency can begin to pull the whole body into a state of dis-ease or disharmony. Sound can be used as a way to bring that part of the body back into resonance, into a ‘sound mind and body’.

— Jonathan Goldman, author of Healing Sounds: The Power of Harmonics
